Forecast of the Electric Power Offtake

The forecast of the electric power consumption is the basic activity in development planning because the detailed estimations of the future electric power needs through peak power estimations are used to estimate the highest transmission network loads.

A good knowledge of the starting situation is of key importance; therefore, ELES regularly analyses many consumption categories from past periods:

  • total consumption in the transmission network,
  • peak power,
  • electric power transmission loss, and
  • offtake of electric power from the transmission network by distribution companies and larger direct consumers, with a special emphasis on analysis of savings in managing energy use or its effective use by users.

ELES then prepares long-term forecasts considering the projections of demographic and economic developments in the Republic of Slovenia.
