Shapes of electricity pylons

In Slovenia, the most common shapes of pylons are "fir tree", "barrel", "the Danube", the "Y-pylon" and the “H-pylon”.

ELES Company manages 496 km of overhead power lines on the 400 kV voltage level, 300 km of overhead power lines on the 220 kV voltage level and 1,334 km of overhead power lines on the 110 kV voltage level. Overhead lines run above the ground and are installed on pylons of various shapes. In Slovenia, the most common shapes of pylons are "fir tree", "barrel", "the Danube", the "Y-pylon" and the “H-pylon”. The barrel and the Danube shapes are two-system pylons; others are single-system pylons. The selection of the pylon form depends on the necessary number of systems (one or two systems) and the features of the environment where the pylon will stand.

The 80 km long Beričevo–Krško overhead power line which is the last 400 kV overhead power line in Slovenia has 227 two-system barrel-pylons.
